What’s on in Sheffield this October

The weather outside may have taken a turn for the worse recently but there is still loads going on in Sheffield. Most of it is indoors too so when you’ve completed your Motorised activities there is plenty for you to enjoy in the nice warmth of some of Sheffield’s excellent venues.

There is so much top quality comedy on in Sheffield throughout October you’ll be hard pressed to find a better range of top quality comedians anywhere in the country. The list of comedians with Shows in Sheffield this October includes Dara O’Brian on the 5th and 6th, Jack Dee on the 8th and 9th, Michael McIntyre between the 10th and 13th, Alan Davies on the 13th, Julian Clary & Richard Herring on the 14th, Ross Noble on the 20th, Russell Kane on the 22nd Jenny Éclair on the 24th, Lee Hurst on the 25th and John Bishop on the 26th to the 28th. This is all part of the Last Laugh comedy festival which includes these and many more acts between the 2nd and 30th of October.

There are some great gigs on in Sheffield too this October including Nickelback at Sheffield Arena on the 7th of October. Kelly Clarkson also plays Sheffield  on the 18th of October and there is a great choice of bands at a range of Sheffield Venues ranging from pop acts to rock and metal at the Corporation club.

If Boxing is your thing Kell Brook takes on Hector Saldivia at the Sheffield Arena. Other sports in Sheffield this October include both football clubs Sheffield United and Wednesday, Sheffield Steelers Ice Hockey club have home games and there is Grayhound racing at Owlerton stadium.

On top of all of this there is a Beer and Cider festival which runs between the 3rd and 6th of October and an annual horror film festival, Celluloid screams at the Showroom cinema between the 26th and 28th of october.. Combine these with our Sheffield stag activities and you can have a weekend you will really remember for years to come.

What’s on in Sheffield this July

This is the first of a series of blogs looking at the upcoming events in Sheffield with this one focusing on July.

The biggest event happening in Sheffield this july is the Tramlines festival which takes place the 20th to 22nd of July. Tramlines is a free ticketless music festival held every year in Sheffield since 2009. All you need to do is turn up and enjoy some fantastic music. In 2011 80,000 visitors turned up and the number of venues being used rose to 70 and offers something for every musical taste.

This year the festival will be headlines by Sheffield’s own Reverend and the makers. In addition to the plethora of live music there is a great range of DJ sets both over the weekend and in the run up to and after the festival itself.  This weekend really is a fantastic weekend to have a Sheffield stag weekend of Sheffield hen weekend and you can save yourself a bit of money with some free evening entertainment.

If you are a boxing fan then the 7th of July you could catch Kell Brook vs Carson Jones at the Motorpoint arena perhaps after getting yourself revved up for the big fight with some awesome motorised activities or get the adrenalin flowing with a game or two of Laser tag.

Shed Seven play the Leadmill in Sheffield on the 6th of July. On Friday 20th Sheffield Eagles play Keighley Cougars of Rugby is your thing. For the Gamers amongst you on the 7th and 8th Magna which is just over the border in Rotherham hosts Games Britannia, a Festival dedicated to the best of British gaming.

Rage buggy lap times 9th June

Another sunny day at our activity site this weekend sadly didn’t give us a new leader on our lap time leader board so Kevin bond and his time of 17.62 is still the time to beat on track 1. Kevin has now held this lead for ten straight weeks.

The fastest time of the weekend was Alan Eastwood who recorded a time of 19.09 which was just 0.07 seconds faster than James Milton with a time of 19.16 seconds. Rage buggy lap times 19th May

This week at our activity site we were using Rage track 1 and had a lot of groups from Nottingham, Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield and Ian Childs recorded the fastest time of 19.16 seconds. Kevin Bond is still sitting pretty at the top of the Rage track 1 times with a time of 17.62. Kevin is now into his 8th week at the top of the list.

Rage Buggy Lap times 5th may 2012

This weekend on our site we have introduced a new track which has the imaginative title of Track three.  Track three offers a longer track than track 1. We had quite a few stag weekends on site this weekend travelling from both Leeds and Manchester as well as those staying in Sheffield.

On Track 1 John Macdonald recorded the fastest time of the weekend with 18.04 seconds. He was 0.54 seconds faster than mark Richards fastest time of 18.58 and 0.55 seconds faster than Neil Cowans 18.59 seconds.  John Macdonalds time was the 5th fastest of the year so far on Track one and was 0.42 slower than Kevin Bond’s time of 17.62.

On Track 2 Stuart Longbottom completed the track in the fastest time of 19.63 seconds which was 0.15 seconds faster than Fraser chilton’s time of 19.78 seconds. On our New Track 3 our first fastest time is Russell Perry with a time of 22.27 seconds. His time was 0.27 seconds faster than Shaun Normans time of 22.54.
